Ok here it goes. In the past two days i have gotten 4 hours of sleep at night cumulatively. Hunter goes to bed with out a fuss now but awakes up screaming every few hours. Around 2AM all he wants is food. What do I do? I have tried letting him cry it out. After hours of non stop crying he is horse but is too stubborn to give it up. I have tried rocking him back to sleep. Then I tried patting his back and not pickig him up. They all work in the moment but don't help him to sleep through the night so I can get some sleep. I neeeeeeeed sleep! I don"t know what to do and I am at such a loss here. I know he is eating enough through the day so why does he want food in the middle of the night? HELP!! And why is he screaming?
He was great at sleeping through the night from day one until he started to get teeth. BLAST those teeth. I give him something for the pain at night but that does not seem to help him sleep so I am thinking that it is not from teeth pain. What on earth do I do?!

I'm no expert, but I say if he is still crying after an hour, something is wrong. I would call my Dr. if it were Jake. Maybe someone else has better advice. Sorry and good luck!
Here's a big "hug" of sympathy. I've been functioning on very little sleep in the last few years and I know how draining it can be.
The only things I can think to ask are, has anything changed recently? A vacation that threw off the sleep schedule? Something new in the diet? Weaning? Teething? Loud noises in the night? Call the pediatrician. He/she might have some suggestions, especially if he's having a hard time teething (which seems a little extreme for night screaming), they might be able to recommend a better pain reliever.
Good luck!
sounds like he is having a hard time teething, which is why he wakes up at night wanting you and food for comfort. Although your friends have brought a lot of good advice for things to consider. Maybe a better pain reliever and keeping track of when it wears out to better relieve the pain. Teething is always rough and I'm sorry both of you are having a hard time.
Girl I feel your pain too. The lack of sleep is the hardest part of being a mom (so far) if you ask me. I would recommend this book that saved my life: "Better Sleep Habits, Happy Child". It might not give you the exact answer your looking for right now, but it will answer sooooo many other questions about baby's sleeping!! Good luck!
I think Liz hit it on the head. I would check on the dosing information to see if he needs a new dose of medi's. I would never ignore a cry becuase he's trying to tell you something is wrong. If he's hungry then I would maybe increase the amount of rice cereal you give him in the evening so he doesn't wake up hungry. He might be a little old for this but, there is a baby talk that you can use to find out what he needs by the sounds he makes. This is what they sound like and what they mean. It truely works.
"Neh" - I'm Hungry
"Heh" - Change Me
"Owh" - I'm Sleepy
"Eh" - Burp Me
"Eairh" - I'm gassy
