Christmas at the Grantham's

This year was the year we traveled to Tucson to spend Christmas with Warren's Family. We arrived late afternoon on Christmas eve to ALL of Hunter's Uncles. He is such a loved little boy. We played and read books all afternoon and Hunter finally crashed at 8pm so Santa's elves could get to work (aka Warren and his brothers.) They worked until about midnight putting toys together and setting up/playing with the train set. Silly boys! I guess they never grow up really. Around 5am Hunter woke everyone up in the house and just had to go down stairs. This is what he saw!

Today

Hunter had been an energizer bunny the past few days. He does not like naps and bed time has been a bit of a challenge. Today i just decided not to force anything and let him do things his way (my pregnant brain talking). After Warren came home for lunch, Hunter decided he wanted to eat lunch so I put him in his chair. I came back a few minutes later after rotating laundry and this is what I found. How adorable right! He has never done this before. I just love my little cutie.

P.S. Don't judge that it is past 1pm and he is still in his jammies :)

Update...

Hunter update...
First off thank you for all of your comments. I did decided to hold out the bottle and now he does not ask for it. Hallelujah! I truly thought I would not make it but I survived. Hunter is healing from his bronchitis just fine and his ears do not seem to hurt him any more. My smiley happy child has returned! besides the occasional tantrum here and there.

We got the test results back from his blood work and he just had a virus and nothing to worry about with the platelet levels. thank heavens! What are they trying to do to me give me high blood pressure.

But for the biggest relief for me this week was that Hunter went to Nursery for the first time! He loved every minute of it and after being there for 5 minutes he kept on saying "bye, bye" and waving at me. I guess it was not cool to have your Mommy there with you. Warren and I got to enjoy church ALL of it for the first time in a while on the same day! this was a big
accomplishment for us. We have church from noon to three and that is also his nap time. I hope it continues to go well.

Prego update...

I only have 6 weeks left of this pregnancy! Let me tell you I am ready to be done. I am feeling very tired and large these days making it hard for me to enjoy pregnant life. My doctor has cleared me from bed rest and said to just take it easy. He must not be aware that it is almost CHRISTMAS. I feel like I still have so much to do but I guess I will just have to work through my list slowly. All in all I am feeling pretty good about this whole two children thing. I think I have convince myself I can do it. I just wish Hunter didn't seam like such a little guy to me still. If you don't hear from me for a while I hope you all have a Merry Christmas!

Help!

Ok i survived last night but i am not sure how much i can take. We took Hunter's bottle away cold turkey. We found out that he had an ear infection and the bottle only would make things worse if we put him to bed with it. So I very regrettably took it away and now i have a MONSTER! He jump/ flipped out of his crib 3 times is 2 minutes( which he had never done before), screamed bloody murder for 3 hours straight and throws him self on the floor so hard i am not sure of a place he is not bleeding or brused. I lowered the crib mattress all the way to the flood so he could not jump out any more so he is no longer throwing him self into sharp corners. I tried holding him to give him comfort but he just kicks and hits to the point where i am having horrible contractions. I am a total reck. I have not slept and my child will not eat or drink anything which has made his blood sugar low giving him an ever worse attitude. I need advice! Please let me know what i should do...How long does this last and will i survive it? Any comments would be helpful at this point...

Oh and to make matters worse he has bronchitis, the ear infection, had to get blood drawn yesterday for possible low palatet levels resulting in broken vessels all over his face, fever, and cutting threw 4 molars! Oh yah you wish you had my life right...

Moderate Bed rest?

Ok i thought that this pregnancy hurt more than the first, sure, but come to find out there is a reason why. I will keep the gross description to my self. Basically it is what happens when you do not take it easy. I have not really slowed down at all while pregnant therefore i am now being forced to do almost NOTHING! My doctor calls it moderate bed rest. I can be on my feet for 30min bursts 2 times a day and i am no longer aloud to do the shopping or heavy cleaning. I can not pick up Hunter more then a few times a day. My poor little guy:( Most of the day I am suppose to keep my feet elevated and RELAX! How can i relax..? I am already going crazy and it has only been 24 hours. I still have 9 weeks to go!

I feel bad for Warren who now has to do the grocery shopping and heavy cleaning. My poor house might suffer a bit. eek... but i still love you babe! My Doctor said he would reevaluate the MBR every three weeks. So I guess I will just have to get used to it. I am going to have a hard time not shopping so much. I live at the craft stores most days. I will just have to send Warren to get me fabrics and thread from now on. Can you imagine Warren doing that. Ha! I just made my self laugh!

Hunter and I will just have to go to the park in the Spring. Until then it is the back yard for us. If any of you get board then come on over we WILL be home:)

Happy Halloween Bzzzzz...

This year we decided to do a themed family costume. We chose Bumble bee, Queen bee, and the Bee keeper. I think they turned out so cute! Hunter was so excited when he saw us getting ready in our costumes. We were so glad because it could have gone either way. I didn't want to have a screamer every time we passed someone scary. Luckily He loved looking at everyone's different outfits. Megan's cousin Peter and his family came with us trick or treating. Their kids were super cute too. Sadly I don't have pics of them. Here we are in our super fun CoStuMeS!! More pics to come once I figure out how to get them off my camera...

We couldn't get a really smiley face but He is still cute!

The spirit whispers this to me...

I just love the girls I visit teach. One in particular was thinking of me today. I was too tired to go grocrery shopping and Hunter was down for a nap. I sat on the couch thinking to my self "what will i eat for lunch, I am starving". Not kidding 1 minute later Cara knocks at my door with CHAPOLTLE! She brought me lunch AND did my dishes! She is so wonderful! I love that she was so willing to listen to that still small voice to tell her I needed company. What would i do without these girls. Love you Cara ;)

This was the first year we went as a family to the pumpkin patch! I just love the old town Gilbert feel around Holiday time. There are pumpkin patches and frams everywhere. We chose Mother nature farms this year. They had a petting zoo, face painting and pumpkin decorating. Not to mention great food! Apple or pumpkin butter anyone... We had a blast! Here are a few pics.

What a beautiful morning! Hunter and I were up at 6:30 (his new favorite time)! lucky me right. We went out to the kitchen to get some breakfest and i had to bring a sweater. It was 63 degrees in my house! We are opening the windows at night and cooling off the house. I guess it is working... I have yet to get cold this pregnancy so it was a welcome change. I am looking forward to the cooler weather as I will inevitably will just keep getting bigger :) I love hanging out with my little man when it is quiet and peaceful early in the morning. I just hope that when baby number two gets here Hunter and i can still have our quiet time together. I just love him so much!

Hiking the Catalina's to Romero Pools

Warren and Hunter had their first father and son hiking trip! We drove to Tucson early Saturday morning. Warren had asked his Brother Sam to go along because I could not go on such a long hike. They had a blast hiking through the trails of the beautiful Catalina mountains. They reached the top where the pools were and Hunter just LOVED playing in the water. Here are some pictures of the trip.

On the hike up. I just love my Boy's!

Camping with Friends

Over labor day weekend we decided to escape the record high HOT weather and travel to cooler weather. Bear Lake seamed like the perfect spot. (thanks to our friends Cameron and Corynn for going up a day early to hold a spot for us!) We also went with our good friends Cary and Christina. We all had so much fun watching the kids get dirty and all 4! yes 4 dogs run crazy around trees and our camping chairs. Here are a few pics thanks to Corynn. (my camera is still on the frits.)

Project #5 Plant and grow a tree in 1 day

Warren's mom Annette came up Saturday to lend a hand to helping paint the baby's room. We drew a huge tree on the wall and started painting. after about 9 coats it was done. I love the way it turned out. The crib will be placed in front in the crib as if the tree grew out from it. Yeah for an Artsy mother in law!

This tree is 9 ft tall!

Project #2 make nursing covers

With Hunter I learned very quickly that no matter where you are when baby is hungry you must drop what you are doing and FEED! Nursing covers came in handy for those choice public moments. And it never hurts to be stylish while doing your motherly duties.

Project # 1 Girl up the car seat

After starting out our little family with a boy I bought very gender neutral things, so i thought. When I got out the infant seat to wash and make ready for the new baby I felt that it looked more Boy than neutral. Off to Joann's Fabrics I went in search of a solution. I stumbled across the cutest fabric in the world and decided to create a cover for the car seat. With no pattern mind you.

The before picture...

Here are the results! What do you think?

Weekend at Grandma's and Grandpa's

This weekend we decided to venture down to Tucson for a few days. It has been a few months since our last trip. Saturday morning Annette and I went to the fabric store to get the rest of the fabric for baby girl's nursery and a few small project fabrics as well. We then took a break and went swimming! It was so hot we all needed to cool off. Normally we would put swim shorts on
Hunter but for grandma's house there need be no privacy. Naked baby swimming it is! I just love those little bum checks.

Warren teaching Hunter how to swim

Grandpa and Hunter splashing around

they were playing hide and seek....so cute!

Then we came inside had our Eegee's (the BEST drink ever) and watched Colaline . In 3D!
Which is why we look so cool!

Ok are YOU READY.... Drum roll please

We had our appointment today to find out the gender. After waiting 30 minutes we finally get called back. The Ultrasound lady takes her time scanning over the baby and measuring every inch of it.

Then she asks " would you like to know the sex?" YES! and she said you are having a little

Can you believe it! Warren made a girl! We are just so excited and I do have to say, a bit shocked. Warren just kept saying "Are you sure". I am not so sure he thought it was possible. We are just so happy! And for those of you who need hard evidence here it is...

We are all alone...

Our last house guest moved out Friday. I have spent the majority of today cleaning and rearranging things. After i cleared out Jack's room I felt a bit empty. He was the reason I made such big meals for dinner every night. ( now what?) Boy can he eat! But at least I know i have a little baby coming to fill the room (hence moving everything out so I can paint!)

Having Lauren and Jack here this summer was great for Hunter. He loved the extra play mates and WE loved that they liked to entertain him. Oh how we will miss our free babysitters! They are off to bigger and better things so I can not be to sad. We will miss you guys. And so will a particular short man who constantly checks BOTH rooms now and only comes out confused. It is cute but so sad.

We love you guys and hope you both have a great school year.

I am Back! and it's a long one

As you all know we are expecting again! Which means i have been sick as a dog and barley moving. But no worries the worst is OVER!! now i can focus on the fun parts of pregnancy, like getting fat. Ha..

Now to recap our summer.... where to begin? Oh Hunter had his FIRST birthday! Can you believe it my little baby is 1! We had a small little party for him. Like he knew any different. He got a lot of fun toys and played with some of his cute little friends. I do have to say the cake was a hit! He tore into it like there was no tomorrow. And that is also were we announced our second little blessing was on it's way. Were else do you get both sides of the family together with out anyone expecting a surprise.

This is how we told our families.

We opened gifts so late that Hunter was just not into it.

On his actual birthday we went to Tucson for the day
and he got to open Warren's parents gift. This was his
face after he unwrapped it.

This is the cake I made. It is a caterpillar if you can
not tell. It was one of his favorite toys his first year.

Sugar over load...

After his birthday we have been keeping busy. We have gone out on the boat several times. Hunter loves it now that he has gotten use to the life jacket.

At the end of July Megan's Grandma Dee came to town. She was in Flagstaff for a day on her way back to California. So Megan's dad, Vanessa and her son Gavin, her sister Lauren and Megan and Hunter all loaded into Wayne's motor home and went to see her. We all had so much fun. We rented a Yurt for a night. It is a circular tent that sits on stilts and has beds and a wood burning stove inside. The kids loved playing around the yurt and getting dirty. We all enjoyed our visit with Grandma and said good bye to her that next morning as we all went home. It was short but a great escape from the Phoenix heat that's for sure.

That next Wednesday Megan's Oldest sister Jen and her family came to town. It was so nice to have all of them hear. We normally get a few hear and there. They had never been to the Grand Canyon before so they wanted to go. That weekend we loaded up again and headed north. we camped out friday night just out side the park. We set up our tents and made s'mores! They are my favorite camping food. So gooey and delicious... The next morning everyone went on a hike from the south rim to a 3 mile post and back. Connie and Megan watched the three young-ins and played in the pine needles. It was a great day. We left around three to head home. Hunter slept the whole way! He was so tired.

We had our annual Ward camp out the week after so we headed North again but only as far as Clint's Well this time. We set up put sturdy tent once again and ate home made scones by the camp fire. We talked until about 10 pm and headed of to bed. Hunter had not been feeling well that day so we had a rough night with him. So much for sleep. That next morning we got up earl to help make breakfast. Yummy pancakes and eggs. Warren was flipping pancakes all morning and hunter and I went on a little walk. We had found him shoes that FINALLY fit his feet so he could walk around all by him self. Megan's cousin Peter and his family are in our Ward so after we all left the camp out we headed over to Megan and Peter's Grandparents camp site for a short visit. It was so nice to see them. It had been a while since we had been together. We had lunch with then and stayed about an hour. The little boy's were all so tired and needed naps so we headed home once again. This time we were not so lucky. Hunter screamed almost all of the two hour trip home. We found out the next morning that he had a nasty virus in his mouth. Their was puss blood and swollen gums. I will spare you pictures of that. He is feeling a bit better this week so my hope is that he is finished with that mess.

And lastly one of our to house guests this summer has moved on. Megan's sister Lauren has been with us since April for her internship for school. She has gone to stay with her parents this last two weeks she is hear before school starts. Hunter still goes into the room she was in and looks around with a very confused look on his face. I think he misses her all ready. They are good buddies.

Our second house guest Jack leaves on the 21st. Then we will be back to an empty house. I then will have to start decorating the new baby's room and putting things back where they belong. I do have to say we will miss the free babysitting. It sure has been nice having the extra help around hear while i was still in the morning/ all flipping day long sickness stage. Thank you guys. We will miss you.
